Salzburg University of Applied Sciences employs 450 staff members at its four campuses: Campus Urstein, Campus Kuchl, Campus Uniklinikum Salzburg, and Campus Schwarzach. In 18 bachelor's and 15 master's degree programs, 3,400 students train in the fields of engineering, business and social sciences, design, media & art, as well as health sciences.
 
For part-time teaching in the Department of Creative Technologies we are offering the following external teaching assignment for summer semester 2025/26.
 

Teaching assignment Technical English

(28 teaching units in 3 groups each, a total of 84 units)
The course is offered in the 1st semester of the Bachelor's degree program in Multi-Media Technology.
Teaching assignment starts: End of September 2025
 
Content
Main focus is on:
  • reading and writing strategies for technical texts in English
  • use of technical English in verbal communication
  • use of artificial intelligence when creating text
  • English vocabulary with focus on computer science
  • basic understanding of writing abstracts for scientific papers in English
  • preparation and practice of elevator pitches as well as product presentations in English

Tasks

  • Conducting teaching and assessing presentations or exams
  • Collaborating with other courses in the 1st semester when needed

Profile

  • University degree (minimum of 180 ECTS) in English/American Studies, Translation Studies, or a comparable university degree
  • Native-level English proficiency (C2) or native speaker
  • Proficient in German as a working language (if not native)
  • Experience in language teaching in a tertiary environment is advantageous
  • Experience in teaching English for Technical Purposes and/or English for Academic Purposes is advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of current language teaching didactics and methods (including blended learning and online formats) as well as proficiency in virtual learning environments
  • Interest in and/or experience in IT is advantageous

Conditions

The employment will be in the form of a freelance contract (§ 4 Para. 2 ASVG). Ex-ternal lecturers are employed under the following conditions:
  • Employment is limited to a maximum of 6 semester hours per week.
  • External lecturers must have verifiable other employment subject to full social insurance.
1 semester hour = 14 teaching units of 45 minutes each
Teaching days: Monday to Friday
Location: Urstein Campus
