FH Salzburg employs 450 people across its Urstein, Kuchl, Uniklinikum Salzburg and Schwarzach campuses. There are 3200 students who have a choice of 18 bachelor and 15 master programmes across four faculties to study in – Engineering; Business and Social Sciences; Design, Media and Arts; and Health Studies.
 
As part of a research project in the field of Generative AI, the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences is cooperating with companies to specifically regulate generative models - with the aim of preventing the unintentional disclosure of sensitive information in retrieval augmented generation systems. The focus of this position is on optimising generative AI models and software development in Python. To support this project, we are advertising the following position as Junior Researcher (f/m/x) at the MultiMediaTechnology degree programme for a fixed term of 2 years for 30 hours:

Junior Researcher for Generative Artificial Intelligence (m/f/x)

Tasks:

  • Investigation of data protection risks in Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems using real communication and health data sets.
  • Analysing and comparing modern retrieval and prompting methods for identifying sensitive information.
  • Development and evaluation of privacy protection mechanisms for generative AI models.
  • Fine-tuning and benchmarking of privacy-sensitive language models in comparison to current research.
  • Documentation and presentation of results at scientific conferences and in scientific journals
  • Participation in the supervision of student projects and scientific work on the MultiMediaTechnology degree programme
 

Profile:

  • A degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline (Master/Diploma)
  • Sound practical experience in the field of Generative AI or Natural Language Processing
  • Sound experience with Python
  • Theoretical and applied understanding of statistics and ML models (transformers, LLMs)
  • Ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary team
  • Good written and spoken German and English skills
  • Enthusiasm for new technologies and interest in research

Salary: € 40.162,- gross annual salary
