Salzburg University of Applied Sciences employs 400 people across its Urstein, Kuchl, Uniklinikum Salzburg and Schwarzach campuses. There are 3200 students who have a choice of 18 bachelor and 12 master programmes across four faculties to study in – Engineering; Business and Social Sciences; Design, Media and Arts; and Health Studies.
 
We are looking for an inspired individual with extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in designing and developing innovative human-machine interactions using state-of-the-art interaction technologies. You cultivate a creative approach to technologies and are used to transforming your ideas into physical and digital prototypes. As a staff member of the MultiMediaTechnology and Human-Computer Interaction programs, you will support ongoing and future research projects in various areas (e.g. Future Interfaces, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Hybrid Play & Learning).
 

Tasks

  • Contributing to research projects in the area of Human-Computer Interaction
  • Supporting and carrying out studies
  • Supporting the acquisition of research projects
  • Teaching in the areas of Human-Computer Interaction, prototyping and research methodologies for up to six hours per week
  • Supervising bachelor and master-theses
  • Representing the research department externally

Profile

  • A completed university degree (master level) with a relevant thesis in HCl (interaction design or interaction engineering). A PhD in a relevant field is beneficial
  • Specialized scientific and practical skills in Human-Computer Interaction or Interaction Engineering
  • Practical experience in the design and implementation of interaction technologies, (hardware) prototyping and physical computing
  • Minimum three years of relevant research experience (full-time equivalent)
  • The willingness to publish your research at scientific conferences and journals (e.g., UIST, TEI, CHI, DIS, CHI Play)
  • Teaching experience at university level is of advantage
  • Outstanding practical skills and willingness for collaborative work on interdisciplinary tasks
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Excellent communicative and social skills

About the role

Hours: 40 hours per week/teaching hours up to six hours per week
Location: Urstein campus
Start date: earliest possible/by agreement
Contract length: 3 years (extension to a permanent position possible)
Salary: from EUR 46,200.00 total gross annual salary (salary level according to qualification and professional experience)
