Salzburg University of Applied Sciences employs 400 people across its Urstein, Kuchl, Uniklinikum Salzburg and Schwarzach campuses. There are 3200 students who have a choice of 18 bachelor and 12 master programmes across four faculties to study in – Engineering; Business and Social Sciences; Design, Media and Arts; and Health Studies.
 
We are offering the following full-time position of researcher (w/m/d) on a three-year fixed-term contract to carry out research as part of the MultiMediaTechnology bachelor and master programmes: Virtual/Augmented Reality Researcher

Tasks

  • Contributing to research projects in the area of augmented/virtual reality with a strong focus on software development for complex interactive applications using state-of-the-art technologies
  • Supporting and carrying out scientific studies
  • Supporting the acquisition of research projects
  • Teaching augmented/virtual reality related topics for up to six contact hours per week (e.g., basics of computer graphics, AR/VR technologies, 3D interaction)
  • Supervising bachelor and master theses
  • Representing the research department externally

Profile

  • A completed master’s degree in the area of computer science and a thesis with focus on virtual or augmented reality
  • Practical experience in the implementation of interactive augmented/virtual reality applications (e.g., Unity, typical VR/AR SDKs and technologies) and/or three years relevant research experience (full-time equivalent)
  • Specialised scientific skills in human-computer interaction are an advantage
  • Minimum three years relevant research experience (full-time equivalent)
  • Individual or co-authored publications at scientific conferences and journals (e.g., IEEE ISMAR, IEEE VR, ACM UIST, ACM CHI)
  • The willingness to publish your research at scientific conferences and journals (e.g., IEEE ISMAR, IEEE VR, ACM UIST, ACM CHI)
  • The willingness to publish your research at scientific conferences and journals
  • Teaching experience at university level is of advantage
  • Outstanding practical skills and willingness for collaborative work in multi-disciplinary tasks
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Excellent communicative and social skills
With less than 3 years of research experience, there are opportunities to become a Junior Researcher.

Hours: 40 hours per week/teaching hours up to six hours per week
