Joint Professorship Cyber Security
The Salzburg University of Applied Sciences is characterized by its practice-oriented education and its strong focus on applied research, while the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg is known for its outstanding achievements in research and teaching and its inter- and transdisciplinary networking. The future professorship will be based equally at these two institutions. The close cooperation will enable the future holder of the position to identify links to existing content and to integrate these into research and teaching. The professional strengths and expertise of both partners will be used to overcome the challenges of the digital world.
We are looking for a technically skilled candidate who has sound expertise in the core topics of Cyber Security and has an excellent international academic track record. We particularly welcome applications in the areas of Network Security, Software Security and System Security, which are considered three of the possible focus areas of this professorship.
In addition to a strong research agenda, a willingness for interdisciplinary collaboration and the ability to work independently as well as in cooperation with academic and non-academic partners is expected. Applicants are asked to present their qualifications and experience in research and teaching in the field of Cyber Security.
Tasks
- Initiation and management of high-quality, (internationally) competitively reviewed research projects in the field of Cyber Security
- Establishing collaborations and connections between different, already existing domains at PLUS and FH Salzburg
- Contributing to the visibility and reputation of cyber security research at both institutions through the publication of high-quality scientific publications and participation in relevant conferences and events
- Participation in the establishment of a cyber security group that builds a bridge to application through cooperation with companies
- Co-design and active teaching at FH Salzburg and PLUS, imparting sound knowledge and skills in the core area of cyber security, especially in the Cyber Security (FHS) and the relevant study programs at PLUS (DAS Faculty, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence)
Profile
- A domestic or equivalent foreign university degree (doctorate) in the field of cyber security with a focus on one of the core areas of cyber security, e.g. network security, software security and/or system security.
- Relevant habilitation (venia docendi) or equivalent scientific achievements and outstanding scientific qualifications
- Ability to cooperate and build interdisciplinary links between different disciplines
- International networking through cooperation and publications with and/or guest stays at foreign universities with a relevant subject focus
- Several years of teaching experience in pedagogy and university didactics
- Experience in the acquisition and administration of third-party funded projects and cooperation projects with international companies and research institutions
- Innovationstrength, creativity, willingness to work in a team and cooperate, social skills, ability to work under pressure and willingness to actively follow current developments in Cyber Security
- Proof of involvement in the international scientific community (e.g. activity as a reviewer, relevant experience abroad, organization of conferences, experience as a speaker, etc.)
- Relevant professional experience outside the university sector (also from consulting and self-employment) is an advantage
The minimum salary for this position is EUR 5.607,-- per month gross (14 payments per year). An overpayment will be made in consideration of qualifications and professional experience.
